Michael was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia in 2020. He joined the independent bar at Howard Zelling Chambers in 2026.

Prior to joining the bar, Michael developed a broad scope of practice working as a criminal defence solicitor in the public sector and a federal prosecutor with Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions.

More recently Michael has been working as in-house Counsel within the Union movement with a focus on civil litigation, industrial disputes and proceedings, workers compensation, appeals and disciplinary matters.

Michael has appeared in state and federal jurisdictions (inclusive of appellate proceedings) and Tribunals.

Michael has experience working in both state and local government settings having worked as a legal and policy advisor to elected members of the South Australian Parliament and as an elected member and councillor at the City of Charles Sturt Council.
